Star Wars : A New Hope

Star Wars the story of Luke Skywalker and his fellow rebel companions who are trying to save the princess from Darth Vader.

Star Wars: A New Hope tells the story of how Luke Skywalker begins his journey to become a Jedi knight with the help of Obi Wan Kenobi so he can save princess Lei from the evil emperor and his apprentice Darth Vader. On his journey he teams up with two outlaws Han Solo and Chewbacca as they battle through trash compactors and storm troopers.

Star Wars has many iconic sounds and without the sounds Star Wars would not be the same. The use of sound in star wars helps tell the story and sets the mood for each scene. From the opening credits to Darth Vader’s iconic voice sound is an important key factor and helps the many scenes play out. Darth Vader’s voice alone lets you know that you are watching a science fiction genre movie along with the many sound effects from the light sabers buzzing open or the sound of the lasers from the blasters. If the movie had different sounds I think it would be a very different film altogether if they used a different technique for Vader’s voice I think he wouldn’t sound as menacing if they used a regular voice. The music used in the scene helps set the tone very well with the Imperial march song being played when Vader arrives.

The use of the many sounds in Star Wars is expected because we don’t know how these sounds would really sound if they were real so I have come to expect R2 D2 to make beep boop sounds and for the light sabers to whoosh when they are open or closed these are sounds that have been established for these movies and help viewers know they are in for a real treat.
